Kid's Hope USA

The heart of KID'S HOPE USA is this:  one child, one hour.  One caring adult mentoring an at-risk elementary-aged child for one hour every week.  Simple, isn't it?  Simple because when a child feels valued and loved, he is better able to grow, learn, and succeed.

To accomplish this vision, KID'S HOPE USA is all about partnering one church with one elementary school in the area.   And because the program is provided completely free of cost for the school, it meets the pressing need of educators for an intervention without breaking their budgets.

Christ Community Church and Cameron Elementary School--which is literally right across the street from the church--have been involved with KID'S HOPE USA since the 2000-2001 school year.  During this time, hundreds of Christ Community attendees have invested their time and hearts into the emotional, spiritual, and academic growth of one elementary school student.

With District 6's changes in the 2010-2011 school year, Christ Community's KID'S HOPE USA will be partnering with Maplewood Elementary School.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Mentors:  Above anything else, a mentor is a friend.  The mentor uses materials provided by the teacher to help the child achieve a specific objective during each one-hour session.  Each mentor will be under the supervision of a teacher at Maplewood Elementary and report to the KID'S HOPE USA Director.  Apply to become a KID'S HOPE USA mentor by printing off the application here!

Prayer Partners:  A KID'S HOPE USA prayer partner provides behind-the-scenes support for the child and mentor.  He/she prays for the child and his mentor not only for the tutoring session, but also for any other prayer needs that arise.  Apply to become a KID'S HOPE USA prayer partner here!

Mentors, please fill out your Daily Progress Report here.
