English as a Second Language
Desiring to build relationships with the Latino population in Greeley, Christ Community's Spanish Ministries Team hosts two 10-week long English as a Second Language (ESL) courses every year. The classes--held every Tuesday and Thursday--are free.
This semester, over 100 Spanish-speakers have attended the course, and about 15 have volunteered to tutor them as they become more proficient in English.
There will be a graduation celebration on Thursday, March 27th for those who have completed the course. At this graduation ceremony, the students and their families are invited to participate in a Spanish Alpha type course. Students and tutors alike will watch a video concerning topics of Christianity and what it means to walk with Christ Jesus. Then, they will talk about what they have learned. This is always a great opportunity!
