What's MOPS?

MOPS Is About ...

Y   Celebrating motherhood

Y   Meeting needs

Y   Making connections

Y   Experiencing God’s love ...

through relationships and practical resources

MOPS at Christ Community Church exists to meet the needs of every mom -  stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single, and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be!

MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy to kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.  MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of our twice-monthly meetings that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young children.

MOPS Ministry Values

Y Dignity: The dignity of each individual mother of preschoolers, no matter where she has been, what she has done or how she is choosing to live her life today, embracing people from various church backgrounds and all ethnic and socioeconomic groups.

Y Equipping and Mentoring: The equipping and mentoring of women to become all that God has designed them to be.

Y Mothering: The value of mothering for its contribution to individuals, children, society at large, future generations and eternity.

Y Relationships: Relationships including the male/female marital relationship, the parent/child relationship, and the ultimate fulfillment of all needs through a personal relationship with God Himself through Jesus Christ.

Y Authentic Spirituality: Authentic spirituality is best expressed  through relationships in an environment for growth and  development as faith shared through actions and words.

Y Leadership Development: The equipping of women to gain confidence in their leadership skills and guide others through the use of their gifts and abilities.

MOPS Format and Features

MOPS’ two-hour program involves a variety of items designed to encourage preschool moms at many levels … relationally, emotionally and spiritually.

Great refreshments, laughs and informal connecting begin each MOPS gathering.  This time of getting caught up with other moms (without a preschooler pulling on your leg) is always a great highlight of a busy mother’s week.  Who knows, you might even get to finish a conversation with another adult without having to repeat yourself!

Each gathering also includes a guest speaker carefully chosen to address themes of special interest to women and moms.  Topics such as parenting issues, simple meal preparation, principles of organization, child safety, handling conflicts, and attending to personal growth needs are among those that have provided stimulating learning for all participants.

Small group discussions and practical support follow, with opportunities to share ideas and receive encouragement amid the many challenges of preschool parenting.  Our loving team of MOPS Mentors will mingle, chat and provide support and guidance as needed.  Tears and cheers are certainly welcome here!

Each MOPS gathering also involves creating a fun new craft using different techniques and materials.  You don’t need to be an artist or “crafty” to take home something you’ll be proud to display.

FAQ’s About MOPS

Is There Any Charge for Attending MOPS?  There is nominal charge per mom for each MOPS meeting.  This helps to cover the costs of beverages, craft items and miscellaneous costs.  In addition, moms will be asked to contribute a baked good or snack on a periodic basis during the year.  Scholarships are available for those unable to pay, however.

What About the Kids?   MOPPETS is our MOPS ministry to children, birth through age 10, which is provided at a nominal charge during all MOPS meetings in the Tiny Tots wing of the worship center.

Who Runs MOPS?  MOPS International charters Christ Community Church to facilitate MOPS, and our MOPS group is led by a Steering Team of moms committed to ministry to pre-school mothers. MOPS International is an inter-church organization based in Colorado Springs, and there are more than 3000 MOPS groups around the world.

Does MOPS Meet During the Summer or At Any Other Times?  The “formal” MOPS program meets twice-monthly from September-May on Thursday evenings, but we anticipate that there will be informal get-togethers throughout the Summer.  Since we’re just beginning MOPS at Christ Community this year, we have a bit of a blank slate in what we choose to do apart from our regular gatherings.   Be watching for details, and feel free to give us your ideas.

Can I Invite A Friend to Come to MOPS with Me?  By all means, yes!!!  Use this web page and the MOPS brochure to introduce MOPS to other preschool moms in your life.
