Jesus had a clear purpose when He came to earth: to bring new life to a barren world. When He left, He gave the church that same mission. At Christ Community, we have a unique purpose--not different than the one Jesus had--but relevant to the culture and community we find ourselves in. We've expressed it this way:
Journeying together to be an authentic, Christ-absorbed, compassionate community.
Our core values are important elements that permeate everything we do, helping us fulfill God's purpose for our church. They are:
Experiencing God--We believe that God can be experienced and known intimately, and that it is His Presence in us that transforms us, comforts us, empowers us, and guides us.
Spiritual Formation--We believe we grow in Christ-likeness through a process of participation with the Holy Spirit, other believers, and the living, active Word of God--the Bible. We interact with the Bible's teachings in order to experience God more fully, embrace Him more completely, and receive His guidance for living out the Gospel.
Authentic Worship--We believe that worship is central to everything else we do and that the only effective worship is authentic worship--giving love to God from an open heart, expressing praise and thanksgiving to Him, as well as surrendering completely to His purposes.
Intimate Prayer--We believe that prayer is an essential part of a healthy, spiritual life. It is the primary way that we cultivate intimacy with God and align ourselves with His purposes. We believe that prayer involves both speaking to God and listening to Him.
Grace Oriented--We believe that there is nothing we can do to earn God's love, and that our obedience to Him should flow out of this wonderful reality of God's grace, rather than out of guilt or obligation.
Compassion for People--We believe every person matters to God and because of that, we desire to demonstrate compassion for the lost, the poor, the broken, and the hurting.
Community--We believe that significant life change happens in the context of small groups, where we can cultivate meaningful relationships with others, learning to love as Jesus loved.
Every Believer a Minister--We believe that every CCC attendee is a minister who has been given spiritual gifts to be discovered, developed, and deployed. Every person plays a crucial role in God's purposes at CCC.
Relevant Communication--We believe that the message of the gospel of Jesus transforms people's lives. Therefore, we desire to speak this message to our culture in relevant and meaningful ways.
Biblical Stewardship--The financial resources each one of us enjoy have been entrusted to us by God. As managers of His resources, we are to put Him first in our finances by giving regularly, generously, and joyfully to the extension of His Kingdom through the ministry of our church.
Kingdom Building--We desire to develop and release leaders who will impact the world for Jesus Christ.
